...or, Everything I Need To Know About Norse Folklore I Learned From Reading Comics

Some artists have had fun drawing modern
incarnations of characters, especially Loki,
with reference to mythological stories.
This page was created as my final project for Beki Test's  English 2270 Intro to Folklore class at Columbus State Community College.

The purpose of this project is to explore the mythological origins of some characters who have become very popular in American pop culture recently, the Norse gods Thor and Loki. While it's well known among fans of both the Marvel Comics interpretations of the characters and the related movie versions that they are based on Norse myths, the degree to which they have changed and the degree to which they have stayed the same as their original folkloric incarnations is not as well known.

Follow the links to the Pages on the right to see my research on the subject, and enjoy!
